    Specificity Wins the Click

    Being vague is the enemy of traffic. You can’t just list “appliances” or “welding” as your categories and hope for the best. You need to get granular with your descriptions and posts because that is how people actually search.

    Think about the user’s intent. If a restaurant owner is hunting for a specific commercial refrigerator in Canada, they aren’t likely to click on a generic “kitchen store” listing that doesn’t mention cooling units. They want the specialist.

    The same logic applies to industrial trades. If a foreman needs a Miller supplier for specific welding parts, they are punching those exact words into the search bar. Your description and services section need to reflect the precise things you sell, not just broad, umbrella categories.

    Visuals Sell Before You Do

    Humans are visual creatures. We judge a book by its cover constantly. If your listing has no images, or worse, just a blurry photo of your front door taken by a drive-by street car, you are losing money. You need to upload crisp, real shots of what you do.

    Show the team in action, the finished renovation project, or the steam rising off the latte. These images build trust before the customer even dials your number. It proves you are legitimate and professional. Furthermore, customers can upload their own photos, and you should encourage that. A user-generated photo of your product in the wild is worth ten professional marketing shots.

    The Review Game Is Rigged (In Your Favour)

    Five stars are gold. But it’s not just about the rating; it’s about the volume and the recency. A 5.0 rating with two reviews from 2018 looks suspicious. A 4.8 with fifty reviews from the last six months looks like a thriving, reliable operation.

    You have to ask for them. Don’t be shy. When you wrap up a job and the client is smiling, ask them to drop a quick note on your profile. And for the love of everything holy, reply to them. Even the bad ones; actually, especially the bad ones. How you handle criticism publicly tells a prospect more about your character than how you handle praise. It shows you care about the human on the other end of the transaction.

    Use the “Updates” Feature

    There is a section on your dashboard specifically for updates, and it is criminally underused. It’s basically a free billboard. You can post about a limited-time offer, a new staff member, or an event you are hosting.

    These posts show up right in the search results when people find you. It signals to the search engine that you are an active participant in your business, which helps push you up the rankings. It also gives the user a reason to click “website” or “call” right now, rather than waiting for later.

    Know When to Call for Backup

    Managing all of this takes time. Replying to reviews, uploading photos, and posting updates can feel like a part-time job on top of your actual job. If you find yourself drowning in the admin work, it might be time to bring in a partner.
